So, when I got contacted about this awesome new product - asking if I would be willing to try it out and write a review - I thought it would be an excellent idea. When we received the product I instantly realized that they were a little too big for our Miko (the website says for dogs 15 lbs and up and Miko is a wee 12) - and with the flat pug face I didn't know if it was something we would be able to try. Also, because of the way that we prepare their food - we would have to mix it up first (they get supplements added) and then portion it into the bowl.

That's where my good blog peeps, YOU come in. These bowls, by DogPause, are AWESOME.
Here is how they work:
and this was one comment on the site that I thought was most interesting about the product:and"As a vet, I recommend this product...When I first saw DogPause, my reaction was, "It is so simple... It works." As a vet, I like to see products that are harmless, natural and extremely effective in promoting canine health. DogPause can decrease canine anxiety, reduce indigestion, and be an important part of an overall strategy to reduce the risk of obesity. DogPause works by simply prohibiting dogs from taking large bites of food -- it forces them to chew, pause and digest. This allows the dog to literally slow down and relax during feeding time. DogPause is a natural and cost effective way to prevent inhalation eating and promotes positive eating behavior. I recommend DogPause to my clients that have fast-eating dogs, and I suggest they try the bowl for at least five feedings. Some dogs have such bad eating habits that they need a few feedings with the bowl to re-learn how to eat at a more normal pace."

"Another hidden benefit of the DogPause bowl is helping owners realize just how much food their pet is receiving. Obesity is a "HUGE" problem in the pet population with statistics indicating 40-50% of our pets are overweight. Too many owners just heap food in their pets bowl and have no real idea how much food their pet consumes a day. The divided bowl helps people recognize better the amount of food they are giving their pet."Still not sure how it works? Watch this video to see

What I am trying to say is - since I can't use this product with my girls I would like to offer to two likely readers a chance to win their own bowl! Leave a comment on this post and on Friday July 4 - I will draw two names and they will get a new bowl!!! You don't have to have a blog - or a pug - I would just like that those who do win the bowls email me and let me know what you think of the product.
So leave your comment with your name and I will let everyone know who the winner is next week. Good Luck!

Aaaah - as I'm reading this blog I keep thinking in the back of my head "I have to buy this for Clementine, I have to buy this for Clementine" - she needs this! She does the same thing you were describing with Miko - eats her food SO fast that at almost every single meal, she ends up throwing at least some of it back up. I think a lot of it has to do with early life - probably wasn't fed much and now has food anxiety as a result. Anyways - put me in the drawing - I will totally write a review, I'll even take a video or pictures or whatever else you would like.
Thanks for featuring this!
The new header is SUPER cute!!
I was thinking of Clover too when I read this. She eats her meals in under 30 seconds. I have no idea why - she has never had anyone to "compete" with for the food and has never been deprived. She just seems to be obsessed with food.
Anyway, thanks for offering this contest.
Clover weighs 12lbs now as well, but we feed her kibble. Do you think this would work for her?
Have a great weekend!
Hi Amanda!
I love your new banner photo!
These bowls are so cool. One of my friends just got them for his 2 labs and it has been great.
Thanks for posting the contest. Emmitt and I would love to play. Your girls are just too cute!

Hi! My pug Nikki and my boxer/pit Gretchen are piglets. They snarf everything down in 10 seconds flat. I think this product is a great idea! By the way, LOVE your website. Your puggies are adorable!
Too bad my pugs couldn't use this...it would be great if we could get them to slow down!
My little piggy (oops I mean puggy!) has the same problem. I would think that this bowl could get Idi to slow down and actually chew her food! ps-This contest is very generous of you!
Coco is desperate for food the whole day. I can't blame him since he has addison's disease, takes prednisone every day AND is a pug... but the real problem for me is that he chokes because he eats too fast. I would give the bowl a try. Thanks for suggesting a new product! I love your blog and your pugs!

Oh that sounds perfect!! Gus eats twice as much food as indy does and always finishes before she does. :p
