Oott and A Boot

Today was the Calgary Pugsters Pug'Intine Party! I had a "brilliant" plan for this meetup to create something for the pugs, instead of ordering the baked goodies for them as usual. All week, I worked away on my "Pet Project"; cutting, sewing, ripping, squeaking (I added squeakers), swearing....

And in the end, I had to abandon the idea because (I am not sewing savvy) I just wasn't going to be able to finish all the items on time for the event. So, instead I took the items that I did finishand allowed the pugs to play with them while they were there. I also made a couple for the girls and I have to say, they are totally their FAVORITE toys (well, I keep telling them that they are).

It's freakin' cold here again, so my plan was to take the girls to meetup to help burn off some energy that they may have built up over the past couple of weeks. I didn't take them to the last meetup event - mostly because it's hard to look after them if I have other things that I am trying to do at the event and I also don't think they totally love it...

Why would I think that? Well.... miss Bossy pants Meimei can't seem to keep her feelings in check and so I either end up following her around the whole time, picking her up from a scuffle (that she started) or she ends up leashed to me so I can keep her in check. Today it was the latter. Miko also tends to want to get held and cuddled for most of the time - so I walk around with one pug tethered to me and one in my arms. Not very social!

So, we started off getting the girls all bundled up and ready for the cold. I am in the process of finding them booties to wear outside, because so many of our neighbors tend to use salt on their sidewalks and I'll tell ya - it BURNS THEIR PAWS! Poor girls only got a couple of feet from our sidewalk when they were so uncomfortable - Meimei was just trying to sit and Miko just pointed her paws up in the air to me. I ended up having to carry them to the car! Speaking of the car - does anyone elses pug put up a stink in the car? The girls don't love it - they spend most of the time whining
and Miko remains completely motionless the entire time with this look on her faceJust heartbreaking!

Tomorrow - pictures from the meetup event!

Winston and Zelda are so so in the car. When I drove with them to Vancouver, they eventually just got bored and stopped whining, so that was good!

It depends where we're going with Giggs. If it's a long trip he'll just go to sleep, but if it's a short trip around town, to the dog park, etc. then he gets whiny. Then Tony yells at him to shut up. It's great fun for me.

I distract him now by stuffing treats in the cracks of his seat cushion. It works ok.

Abby and Cush love the car. I say lets go bye bye and they are out the door so quick, they even jump in on their own! They ride in the back in their two seater car seat.. they do whine sometimes, but it is because of shear excitement! xoxo p.s. Abby is much better! Thank you for all your well wishes!

All 3 of mine are different...Belle gets car sick and Poops and throws up before we even get out of the driveway....Turbo sits in one spot and doesn't move...I think he likes riding but he acts paranoid! Willow is all over the place...one window to another...one lap to another...so needless to say, our pigs don't go in the car very often...It stresses me out!

So far Napoleon loves the car. We haven't really driven Rukia anywhere yet, except for driving her home from the breeders - but I'm not sure she even really remembers that day - she slept through most of it in her Daddy's arms.

Meimei looks so cute in her winter gear! if the wind chill has been around -40 to -50 are you able to bring them outside at all?
The salt bothers Indy's paws as well, she limps along or walks in the snow, the poor things.
Indy is really good in the car, she used to be whiny, but she outgrew it. Gus is a disaster in the car, I had to buy him a seatbelt because he leaps around alot, especially at me when I am driving. He gets whiny we hit traffic and aren't going anywhere. But other then that, they are good, they both jump in on their own, no car sickness, thank god!

Napoleon is pretty good in the car but Maggie whined and fussed the whole time, mainly just because she wanted out everytime we stopped! Mei Mei and Miko look so pathetic in those pictures!
