Since Tuesday we have had the girls together when we aren't home (before that they were kept in separate places) and I can't decide if it has been a good decision or not.
The girls spend their alone time together in a large, enclosed space (inside the house). We aren't letting them wander around the house unsupervised for many reasons - mostly one of them being that we are scared they will get into something and we won't be there to stop them/prevent them/save them. I know we are being overly paranoid - but this is the first time either of us have had dogs (sort of) and we are nervous parents (could you tell yet?). In their space they have a litter box, a bed, lots of toys, water dish, an old carpet (on half the space) and quite a bit of room to wander and play.
On Tuesday we came home and someone (Miko) had peed on the carpet and the litter box had many squished poopies in it (from them trampling all over it). Yesterday when we got home...there was poop scattered everywhere! I'm not sure what they are doing all day and why there is so much poop around (it's not diarrhea poop so I'm not worried about Miko being sick again) but it was sort of a disturbing sight to walk into.
I convinced Jerry that they are still getting used to being with each other in that space and it's going to get worse before it gets better. We moved the second litter box (the one that is upstairs) into the space this morning and we are hoping that will help with the scatter... but what I think is happening is that one dog will be pooping and the other one will be right in the butt seeing what's going on (why do they do that??) and the other will move away (while still squatting) and therefore making the poop go everywhere.
The positive (I'm a glass half full kind of girl) side to all of this is that Meimei hasn't been eating poop since Miko has been in the enclosure with her (wave a little yippee flag) and both the girls seem pretty content with the arrangement. They are pretty tired when we get home so I figure they are playing all day,

in fact we kind of miss watching them go absolutely crazy in the evenings these days.
So, I guess we will have to wait and see how things go in the next couple of days before we make any decisions about how things should proceed. (Any Suggestions? Advice?)
Until then, I'm picking up some more rolls of paper towels and a new mop on the way home tonight!
