Mystery Solved?

A couple of weeks ago I posted about MeiMei having some strange poops - since then we have figured out a couple of things.

1. MeiMei is a trooper - she won't let anything get her down!

2. She does not seem to have any parasites or infection - we had her poopy tested

3. Apparently, her tummy doesn't like sweet potatoe/yams. I don't know why not, because they used to eat them and she didn't react the same way... so it's kind of a mystery.

So, it's been about a week since changing her food and all poops are gold (I wish!) - unfortunately, it seems as though Miko does better on the Sweet potatoe - so making their food just got more complicated.

Speaking of.... in the last couple of months we have been playing around with the girls food to get them more calories (very important!) and also to give them some variety in what they are eating. They don't seem to be tired of what they are currently getting, but I figure it might be nice for them to get some seasonal stuff and switch it up sometimes. In order to keep everything straight while doing this we have started a Food Journal. It's a little tricky, figuring out the nutritional content of all this stuff, I actually don't have the brain for it at all and need Minus to figure it all out for me. It's a big job - but worth it for my two girls.

Cheating for Treats

We try and keep some sort of order in our house when it comes to the girls listening and obeying. It's hard, with a pug, to reenforce sometimes because they have such a stubborn mind of their own. Here the girls are supposed to stay sitting across the kitchen while I get a treat.

I have a question for you. I think it's time that I get a sibling. How did it go when your pawrents brought Miko home? How did you adjust? I mean I like the idea of a little sister, but I'm worried I really might be only-child material! How do you do it?

MeiMei: Well, after I was taken out of daycare... it was a crappy place... Literally... Poop everywhere... on the walls, on the people... no, I lie, it wasn't that bad, but I hated it, and mama and papa hated taking me there, but I digress... I was lonely and really bored during the days. Mama would have to take me for walkies for the better part of an hour, and I'd still be wound up like a wake-ups popping air traffic controller. So, they got the inkling to get me a kid sister to pal around with me during the days....

Miko: That was me right?

MeiMei: Right. So Mama and Papa started looking around at breeders, and found one up near Edmonton... which, trust me, is like totally far... had to hold my poop for ever...

Miko: I totally did that after I picked you guys.

MeiMei: You peed on my bed on the way home.

Miko: I totally held my poop though...

MeiMei: Sure. You hold onto that little fantasy.

Anyway. We went to this breeders place and there were these to little yappy puppies. I liked both of them, but I liked one better.

Miko: Me, right?

MeiMei: Sure, why not... anyway, one of them liked mama and papa a lot, and the other one, didn't care for people so much, so they brought the one that was whining and crying like a wee little baby to come and play with me again...

Miko: Totally wasn't...

MeiMei: Were too! Now stop interrupting!

Miko: Wasn't whining

MeiMei: So, well, Mama and Papa decided to see if it would work and that was that, I had a little sister.

I taught you a lot of stuff right away. How to sit, how to come when called, and how to beg. Most importantly, how to beg...

Miko: You took care of me those first few nights when I had to sleep alone for the first time.

MeiMei: I know, not a wink of sleep...

Miko: But it helped me a lot. Thank you.

MeiMei: You're welcome.

Miko: For the longest time we weren't kept together though.

MeiMei: No, we weren't. You were too small and, well, there was the Tail Incident.

Miko: The Tail Incident. You bit me on the tail, like the first week I was there. Hard.

MeiMie: Only once, and you started it!

Miko: I was the size of your head! You made me bleed!

MeiMei: I said I was sorry!

Miko: You got in so much trouble...

MeiMei: Yeah, I did. Thanks for that...

Miko: Didn't mean it.

MeiMei: I know. You're a good kid sister.

Miko: And after a few months, we were together pretty much full time.

MeiMei: Not a wink of sleep...

MeiMei: I think it would be easier to list movies I hate, or more to the point things in movies I hate: Dogs, any four legged animal really, anything walking on all fours, I'm looking at you Maggie Gylen.. Gilen... the chick from the Secretary... whatever here name is... jiggling bells, rattling keys, anything I have deemed to be "unnatural" such as anthropomorphic toasters, vacuums or other household appliances...

Minus: No problem with King Kong though...

MeiMei: No. You humans should breed your apes as large as possible. Huge monkeys crushing mid-30s New York. Awesome sauce.

Minus: What about you little one?

Miko: Anything with Ving Rhames or George Takai.

Hmm, well you're usually good about posting all the dirt on them. Is there any adorable quirks we haven't yet learned about yet (or it's been a while since you mentioned them last)? How long do their play sessions normally last for?

Miko: Anywhere from an hour to five minutes. It depends on how jazzed we are.

MieMei: Or how much you pissed me off.

Oh, I know! What do they do during the day when you're gone? Do they just sleep, or do they make a total mess a lot? Hehe. Just curious what I have to look forward to when we let Theo out of his pen.

Mom would like to know how you were able to discover all of Miko's allergies. I have some allergies too, but we don't know what they all are...

Manda: Trial and error. We pulled them both off commercial dog food and switched to home cooked. That cleared up the poop problems, but them there was the itching and scratching, so we tried an elimination diet, which worked somewhat, but Miko also has environmental allergies.

MeiMei: The elimination diet tottaly sucked for me.

Minus: Yeah, but now you seem to have a problem with Yams.

MeiMei: Carbs make me fat.

Miko: Correction... fatter...

MeiMei: Eat my poop.

Miko: ...with some Fava beans and a nice Chianti...

Manda: You guys are gross.

Minus: But we love their itchy scratchy, weird poop little butts anyway.

MeiMei: Gotta love us. Pretty sure it's the law.

Manda: Anyway. Some of Miko's allergies are environmental. Even on various elimination diets we haven't been able to completely control her allergies. The only time they completely subside is when the furnace and A/C is complete off, which, in this climate is un-doable, but her major food allergies are pretty much under control. *fingers crossed*

Miko: What I lack in normal immunity, I make up for in preternatural cuteness.

Morning Routine

In the mornings I always get on the laptop and check my emails while eating breakfast. The girls try their very best to help me get some work done
as much as it usually results in them (being annoying) spending most of the time trying to get comfortable, or play fighting with each other, or slipping of my pants (dress pants are slippery!) and I don't get any work done - it's one of my most favorite times of the day.
